to the Door of Hope website. We're glad you took
the time to visit. Through these pages we hope you will get to know
us better. As you learn more, we invite you to
consider joining us in providing a welcoming oasis for people who are chronically homeless in
Memphis.
To begin, Door of Hope is exactly what the name
implies - a portal to a better future. It’s a threshold where
those who have lived too long on the street or who are precariously
sheltered from night to night can begin to make their way back to what
most of us consider a normal life.
How is this done? It begins through the building of trusting relationships. Through the
recognition of each person’s humanity. By offering an ordinary day of
conversation over coffee, meal sharing, laughter, concern.
Such simple,
normal activities can help the individual begin the long road back.
And we believe this happens one person at a time. |
